In numerous surveys, Gary Pisano found that when asked if people would want to work in an innovative environment, the answer was always “yes.” Innovative cultures have a lot of characteristics that strike positive feelings. However, despite the fact that innovative cultures are desired, they are very difficult to build and sustain over time. Gary shares that innovative cultures actually are a scary thing to build, for both the manager and the team. They involve vulnerability, risk, and truly hard work. As Young Life seeks to be more innovative in our ministry, we need to have an accurate understand of what that may entail. Are we willing to do the hard work of innovation in our ministry?
